CD2 mods

CD2 itself, the enemy packs (MEV, DEA, EEE) and the install steps, all on one page. Want CD1 too? See CDCompat.

Recommended for most players

This page is the original CD2

Host your own CD2 lobbies and join anyone else’s, with any mod manager (mintfixed, MintCat; which one?). To join friends’ CD1 lobbies as well, add the CD1 client on top; it is last in the download list.

Experimental · MintCat only

CDCompat

Only if you also want CD1: one mod that hosts and joins both CD1 and CD2 lobbies, so you never quit to swap mods. My own mod; don’t install it together with the CD2 or CD1 client on this page.

Downloads

CD2 plus all of the enemy packs; most difficulties need them, so install them all. When playing together, everyone needs the same packs, or custom enemies won’t show up correctly.

Custom Difficulty 2

beta 18

CD2 itself, the difficulty engine. Leave it unchecked if you use CDCompat, which already includes CD2.

CD1 client

Optional · for CD1 lobbies

Check it together with the original CD2; any mod manager works. It joins other people’s CD1 lobbies but can’t host them; to host CD1, use CDCompat.

Installation

The steps below use MintCat; mintfixed works the same way. Not sure which manager to use? See Mod managers.

  1. Install MintCat

MintCat is the program that manages and installs DRG mods. Download from the MintCat site ↗

  2. Download the files

Download CD2 and the enemy packs (MEV, the OBNC patch, DEA, EEE, plus YoMAMA, which only a few difficulties need). They are all in the downloads section above. Install all of the enemy packs; most difficulties need them.

  3. Close the game and add the files to MintCat

Also add Unified UI in MintCat. It’s the in-game mod menu where the CD2 settings live: a lighter, more stable replacement for Mod Hub that can also pin your favourite mods. Don’t install it together with Mod Hub. Unified UI ↗

  4. Press Install mods

After checking your mods, press Install mods, or nothing is actually installed.

  5. Launch the game

Hosting: in the Space Rig, press B to open the mod menu, go to CD2 and pick a difficulty, then pick a mission. To add a new difficulty, paste its code into CD2 and save. Codes are on the Custom difficulties page.

Joining: nothing to set up. CD2 uses the host’s difficulty automatically.

New to CD2?

CD2 plays very differently from CD1

No big periodic waves to bunker against: constant pressure, keep pushing, stall and you run out of nitra for resupplies, and all four dwarves have a job. Why it’s fun, what each class does and what CD2 difficulties can do is on its own page.
