About this site

I’m Arthur, a player from Taiwan, and I run this site on my own. This page is about why I made it and what I want it to become.

Why this site exists

I found out about CD2 through waste, and learned most of it from Fayree’s and 29 Phantom’s videos. Once I’d played it, I was hooked.

The catch is that getting into CD2 isn’t easy. Everything lives in the Practical DRG (PDRG) Discord, spread across channels and threads: CD2 in one place, MEV, DEA and EEE each in their own thread, and difficulties scattered even further. Even with Discord working fine for me in Taiwan, it took me a while to find everything.

For players in mainland China it’s harder still: most can’t reach Discord at all without a VPN. A lot of the people I play with are Chinese, and most of them still play CD1 and swap difficulties in QQ groups. Many have never heard of CD2.

So I made this site: everything you need to play CD2 difficulties, in one place, in English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese, and reachable without Discord or a VPN.

CD1 vs CD2, in short

Most older CD1 difficulties are built around a big wave every few minutes. The usual answer is to bunker: the driller digs a tunnel, the team holds it, and the scout handles stationaries outside on their own.

CD2 difficulties are built around constant pressure and pacing instead: the bugs keep coming, and if you stall you run out of nitra for resupplies. Everyone has a job: the gunner takes stationaries with the Bulldog and Burning Hell, the scout lights targets up for the gunner, and the driller and engineer clear trash. I like that everyone matters and you push forward together.

There’s a fuller comparison, with loadouts, on Why play CD2.

What’s here

  • CD2 mods. CD2 itself, the enemy packs and the install steps; CDCompat if you also want CD1.
  • Why play CD2. For CD1 players and newcomers: how it differs, why it’s fun, what each class does.
  • Custom difficulties. Every difficulty on the Big Chart, with its notes, code (copy or download), the enemy mods it needs, a stats summary and every version.
  • Guides. Fayree’s team composition guide (translated into Chinese) and gameplay videos.
  • Community uploads. Difficulty authors and players can upload their own difficulties and updates.
  • My mods. Mods I made myself: CDCompat (CD1 and CD2 in one mod, so one install can host and join both kinds of lobby) and Anti-Lag.

Where I want it to go

Discord is great for talking, but not for keeping things: once a channel gets busy, older codes and versions are hard to find. I want this to be a stable place where anyone getting into CD2 can find everything from one link.

Most of all, I’d love for difficulty authors to post their difficulties and updates here too, so they’re easy for everyone to get. This isn’t meant to replace PDRG: the discussion and the new stuff still happen there. This site just keeps things organized and easier to find.

The site is still a work in progress, and I put a lot of it together while playing, so some things may be off. If you spot a mistake, or want something about your own work changed or taken down, just tell me.
